Part of it was wanting to play new music for sure. And I'm like, "Well, I guess I'm gonna get that time." And three weeks into I'm like, "Where's my band? How can I play?" And part of it is because we were finishing up a new album and had an album coming. I've often said throughout my career, I've been doing this for thirty years now, and I've told my management, "Man, if I could just get six months off, eight months off, where I don't have anything to have to turn the light switch on for, where I can just chill out and recharge my batteries," then this came up. However (laughs), I do love playing music, I do want to be on stage and I do miss that. McGraw: Absolutely, and you know what I liked it. We're back to almost an empty house of me and Faith and my youngest now.īaltin: I've spoken to a lot of artists who've really loved and appreciated that family time. I'm a little sad now because my oldest and middle left yesterday. They all came in with a few friends, everybody got tested and we sort of quarantined for four weeks here at the house and these kids set tables outside every night, we cooked all these home-cooked meals and played games, listened to music and watched movies. And my youngest daughter just graduated high school, so she's here at the house. and my middle daughter lives in Palo Alto. Tim McGraw: My oldest daughter lives in L.A.
